Hey everyone! Today’s Mommy Minute is going to be another subscription box review. Today I’ll be reviewing the January 2018 BeautyFix box! I have gone back and forth with my BeautyFix subscription for a while, but it’s a great box if you enjoy skincare! I feel I am personally getting a bit burnt out on skincare, so I’m still debating keeping this box or not. If you get this box, please tell me what you think in the comments below!
BeautyFix is a subscription box owned by Dermstore. It costs $24.95 a month and is a beauty box that focuses on skincare.
This month’s theme is Glow, Baby, Glow. They’ve described this box as a curated beauty sprinkling of hydration and glow.
Yeah, $70.00. This is a full-size cream that retails for $70.00. This, my friends, is why I love subscription boxes. My husband would probably kill me if I bought a $70 moisturizer, but when I can that plus several other products for $24.95, it makes a lot more sense. This is a retinol substitute that’s visibly effective and formulated for all skin types. Now, the unfortunate part of all of this is that this has a warning not to use if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. Le sigh. So, I don’t have any opinions on the product itself because mine ended up in the swap pile. :(.
Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Miracle Multiplying Volume Mist (1.4 FL OZ), $8.75
This is a top-rated, multitasking treatment mist that nourishes and volumizes your hair. I have used this before in a bottle about this size and it’s a really great hair mist. It provides a nice amount of volume without being too over the top and the scent is really nice too. I find I’m not a huge fan of hair mist-y scents, but this one is a nice, fresh scent that doesn’t bother me. This will definitely get used, and I’m excited to have another bottle!
Jouer Cosmetics Highlighter in Tiare (0.03 OZ), $9.42
I seriously love Jouer Cosmetics highlighters. They are always so freaking beautiful. This shade is Tiare, which is a “shimmering gold”. This is a lightweight, cream highlighter that is blendable and buildable. It includes botanical antioxidants that help boost a radiant, healthy glow. The formula is not greasy and it does blend in smoothly without appearing clumpy or dry on any parts of my face. It’s a very light color that I feel would look good on almost any skin tone. This is a definite win for me!
Skinmedica Dermal Repair Cream (0.13 OZ), $9.86
You guys, this is such a small little tube. It’s only 0.13 OZ, but the full size of this cream is $129.00 for 1.7 OZ. Yowza. This cream claims to repair those dry patches on your face that pop in the winter. This is “a powerful antioxidant cocktail that helps brighten, tighten and lift your skin”. I don’t currently have any dry patches on my face, so I can’t test that particular claim, however the cream itself is super lightweight and absorbs into my skin almost instantly. It does have that slight grandma-y perfume scent, but it is light so I can overlook that.
Yuni Shower Sheets Large Body Wipe (1 WIPE), $1.25
This wipe is described as an oversized, super-soft, moist wipe to instantly cleanse and refresh every inch of your skin. Its recommended to be used after yoga, workout, surfing, hiking, camping, travel, festival-going, etc. Full disclosure here, I have not used this wipe yet. I’m actually going to toss this into my hospital bag and take it with me when I got into labor with the little one here. This seems like a perfect idea for that time when you just know you’re going to feel gross, but a shower at that moment just isn’t an option. It’ll be nice to have something other then baby wipes to use until I’m able to hop in the shower.
Dermstore Lip Quench, $12.00
This is a full-size lip balm! Woot Woot! This is by Dermstore, the company that owns BeautyFix, so I am glad that this is full-size. I think I’d be a bit disappointed if this wasn’t. I have used this before, I think I received it in a mystery bag or something. It is a great lip balm, very moisturizing, softening and hydrating. It does have a touch of shimmer, but nothing too outrageous. It’s made with soybean, olive and sweet almond oils. I’m really pleased to have another one because I totally lost my first tube and I actually do miss this little guy!
Skin And Co Roma Truffle Therapy Serum (0.17 OZ), $11.90
This serum is made with truffle extract and skin-renewing ingredients extracted from Italy. Faaaaancy. This is a very lightweight serum with a scent that I can’t quite put my finger on, but it’s nice. I’m really excited to use this little baby up because I’ve enjoyed the other Skin And Co Roma products that I’ve tried. My only concern with this is it’s dated Feb 2018, which I must assume is an expiration date? So now the pressure is on because I cannot stand using expired skincare products. Just a bit odd that the expiration date would be the month after receiving this in a box.
I am really pleased with this box. I am a little bummed that I can’t use the most expensive item in the box, but it’s no ones fault, so I can’t be too mad about it. I am excited for the rest of the products and I think that this entire box was full of winners. If I wasn’t pregnant/planning to breastfeed, then this box would have been one of my absolute favorites!
I paid $24.95 for $123.18 worth of products. You can purchase this box as a one-time purchase here for $34.95.
What did you think of this box? What is your favorite product?
