January 2018 Healthiest Baby Review!

Hey everyone! Today’s Mommy Minute is a review of the January 2018 Healthiest Baby subscription box!

Healthiest Baby is a monthly subscription box for moms-to-be and new moms that costs $39.99 a month. It focuses on chemical-free goodies to take you from bump to baby, and then throughout your baby’s early months, for a healthy motherhood. They recently changed their name/brand to Healthiest Baby.

This box is my 9 month box. I actually received this box a few days before my daughter, Ramsey was born so it arrived just in time!

Every month throughout my pregnancy, I received a milestone sticker marking which month of pregnancy I was on. These were nice to have to take bump pictures for posterity. I don’t know what I will get next month, since 9 months is the end of pregnancy.

They also included a milestone card for 1 Day Old! This is also an ad for milestone baby photo cards from Milestone. I think this is a really cute idea, but I use milestone stickers for all of my kids, so I don’t have a use for cards. I would have used this, but unfortunately, in all the crazy, I totally forgot that I even had this! :(.

Birds & Bees Teas Caffeine Free Ripe & Ready Tea, $3.00.

This bag is the “sample size” that is available on the Bird & Bees Teas website. It includes 4-6 servings. This tea is described as a “nourishing red raspberry leaf blend with hints of cinnamon, allspice, and hibiscus used for the last few weeks of pregnancy.” One of the ways its said to prepare your body for labor is to drink red raspberry leaf tea. I actually didn’t get a chance to try this tea before I went into labor, but I’m not too upset because I am not a fan of tea. I did try some regular Red Raspberry Leaf Tea, but I really didn’t enjoy that very much either. I’ll probably pass this along to a friend or put it up for swap.

Mambino Kissable Lips Glossy Lip Balm in Juicy Red Grapefruit, $6.00.

This is an all-natural, vegan, botanical lip balm infused with red grapefruit essential oil. It doesn’t have much of a scent or color that I’m able to notice. It’s very smooth and moisturizing. I personally don’t mind lip products that come in pots like this, so the packaging is something that I can appreciate. This does have an expiration date in 2020, but I’m glad I have such a long time to use this.

Thayers Witch Hazel in Rose Petal (3 OZ), $3.99.

This is a natural gentle skin toner derived from a time-honored Native-American formula. Thayers Witch Hazel is grown exclusively on a family farm in Fairfield County, Connecticut. This is meant to used as a traditional toner, although this doesn’t contain alcohol which I love! This has a very light scent of rose, so I would be wary if you’re sensitive to the scent, but I don’t find it to be overpowering at all. It definitely makes my skin feel cleaner and smoother without being drying or overpowering at all, so that’s a win for me!

Earth Mama Organic Herbal Sitz Bath, $5.99.

These pads are natural herbal compresses filled with organic herbs traditionally used to soothe and comfort “down there” during pregnancy or after childbirth. There are a few different ways you can use these, according to the website and the packaging.

I haven’t had a chance to try these out yet since life with 3 kids (one being a newborn) can get pretty hectic. However, as weird as it might sound, I’m really excited to give these a try. This package comes with 6 one-time use pads, which I think is a really nice amount. With this being my third pregnancy and labor, I’ve never actually done any type of sitz bath before, but with what I’ve heard about them, I can’t wait to try one out! Hopefully it will provide some much needed relief.

Babysoy Star Beanie, $8.00.

This beanie is made out of a blend of 50% rayon from bamboo and 50% organic cotton. It’s got a tagless design and is available in 4 different modern color schemes. It’s from BabySoys Modern ABC Collection.

The fabric of this hat is soooo soft and luxurious feeling. It’s got a single knot at the top and I love that I can fold the bottom of the hat to customize the fit. I love the unisex star design. Hats are always a great thing to have for newborns, and my older kids love to take the babies hats, so I’m constantly losing them. This is a very cute back-up that I’m very happy to have!

Green Sprouts by iPlay Cotton Stripe Swaddle Blanket in Gray, $8.99.

These swaddle blankets are available in a pack of 2 for $17.99, so the $8.99 is based on that cost. This is a really great gender neutral swaddle blanket. It’s  44″ square is made from 100% organic cotton.

I love the simplistic design of this. We use swaddle blankets for everything in my house, especially for newborns. They are very versatile blankets and I love that they are breathable, so they are much safer to use then traditional blankets. This blanket did have a bit of an odd scent to it, but washing it took care of that! 🙂 This is another baby item that is great to have extras of.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I really enjoy this box. It’s a great way to try new things for my kids and for me, but on a healthier scale then the things I normally pick out myself. I will use everything except for the 9 month sticker/milestone card and the tea which is a pretty good outcome in my eyes. I enjoy the curation and consideration that goes into this box. I’m not pleased in any way with the value of this box though. I paid more for the box then the value of the products that I received. If this continues, I will have to reconsider my subscription to this company, because I do expect at least a slightly higher value to the box over what I paid.

I paid $39.99 for $35.97 worth of products!

What do you think of this box? What do you think of the value of this box? Have you ever tried this box?
