Let’s Talk Trash! Empties & Mini Reviews #8

Hey everyone! Today’s Mommy Minute is going to be installment number 8 of my Let’s Talk Trash series, where I share with you all of the beauty products I’ve used up in the last month and my thoughts on them!

+ Links may be affiliate or referral.

My bin is getting way too full this month, so let’s begin!

+ Suave Honey Infusion Strengthening Conditioner (12.6 FL OZ), $2.89 x2
I’ve used up several of these in the past and my opinion remains the same. I really like these. They’re super affordable, they work well in making my hair softer and shinier, and they smell damn good. I have several more of these to use and I will continue to repurchase.

+ Dove Nutritive Solutions Absolute Curls Conditioner (12 FL OZ), $3.99.
I bought a couple bottles of this on clearance at Fry’s recently. I really like the Dove brand, especially their hair care products and I really loved this. It smells great and left my hair feeling crazy soft, while also helping the small amount of wavy curl my hair naturally has. I have a couple more bottles of this that I’m happy to use.

+ John Frieda Frizz Ease Flexible Hold Hairspray (2 OZ), $1.53 based on price of $9.97 for 13 OZ
I have no idea where I got this, but I have two bottles of this. I’m using the second one now. I really like this. It does have a nice, flexible hold that doesn’t make my hair feel weighted or crunchy in texture. I don’t love the scent, but it’s not overbearing. I’d be interested in repurchasing.

+ BROO Craft Beer Moisturizing Shampoo (8.5 FL OZ), $7.49.
I used the conditioner version of this up last month, so of course the shampoo would follow soon after. I received this for free as a prize from a Twitter party. This was okay, but I don’t love the scent. My husband used most of this bottle, and he really enjoyed it and it did add a nice gloss to his hair, but I probably wouldn’t repurchase.

+ Marc Anthony Hydrating Coconut Oil & Shea Butter Sulfate Free Conditioner (8.4 FL OZ), $7.89.
I purchased this from an Ipsy shopper offer along with a couple of other products. First of all, this smells amaaaazing. I really felt a difference in my hair after using this and I have a whole new appreciation for Marc Anthony products thanks to this baby. I will definitely repurchase.

+ OGX Nourishing + Coconut Milk Shampoo (3 FL OZ), $2.99.
This I did not like. The packaging alone was horrible. It’s so hard to get any product out once it’s halfway empty. The shampoo was okay, but nothing special. I’ve had better luck with other products from this brand so I’m surprised I didn’t like this one.

+ Living Proof Perfect Hair Day In-Shower Styler (1 FL OZ), $6.50 – based on price of $13.00 for 2 FL OZ.
I seriously hated this. I don’t feel like it did anything for my hair except leave a bunch of residue since you aren’t supposed to fully rinse it all out. I got a ton of wonderful dandruff related comments from my friends because that’s seriously what this looked like. I had high hopes for this since I do prefer to air-dry my hair, but I wouldn’t repurchase.

+ Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer (1 FL OZ),  $6.00.
This is wonderful. I received this for free in an Influenster VoxBox awhile back. It works well, it makes my hair feel soft and smooth, shiny and healthier. It has the most amazing scent as well. I would definitely repurchase.

+ Ecotools Pure Complexion Facial Sponge – Sensitive Skin, $5.89.
I use these religiously. I seriously use a konjac sponge everyday to wash my face with. They are so amazing. They exfoliate without being the least bit harsh on sensitive facial skin. But my skin feels so much cleaner after using this compared to using just face wash. I have several more from various brands, but this is my holy grail one.

+ Burt’s Bees Rosewater Toner (8 FL OZ), $11.00.
I got this forever ago from the Burt’s Bees website. It’s a toner, which is a pretty standard product. I did like this. It does have a strong rose scent, so if you don’t like rose scents then this probably isn’t for you. It lasted forever though. I would repurchase.

+ Skin & CO Roma Truffle Therapy Cleansing Oil (6.8 FL OZ), $30.00.
I really am not a fan of cleansing oils. I always like to give them a fair shot and I’ve tried several and I have a few more to try, but I just don’t get it. I don’t like my face feeling like an oil slick after using them, which is unfortunately what happened with this one. I believe this came in a subscription box, so it was nice to try, but I wouldn’t repurchase.

+ Cailyn Dizzolv’It Makeup Melt Cleansing Balm, $24.00.
I do however love cleansing balms. They’re so convenient and they work really well. This one is no exception. I received this in a subscription box and I loved it! My only issue was the scent, it just wasn’t as nice as my It Cosmetics one from last month. I would repurchase this though, it did the job well.

+ Clearasil Hydra-Blast Oil-Free Face Wash (6.5 FL OZ), $6.49.
I’ve used up a couple of these in the last month or so and I like it. It works well, it makes my skin feel clean, it has a decent amount of exfoliation to it. I don’t notice a difference with any acne spots though. I would repurchase if I found a deal for these, but not at regular price.

+ Fresh Rose Floral Toner (0.6 FL OZ), $2.82 – based on price of full size product.
This was a really nice toner. It is a smaller size, obviously, so I went through it rather quickly. It didn’t have an overbearing rose scent, it was a slightly subdued scent. I liked it though. It worked well and my skin feel fresh!

+ La Roche-Posay Micellar Water Sensitive Skin (1.69 FL OZ), $3.99.
I use micellar waters to remove my eye makeup most days. This one worked really well and I didn’t need very much of it to take all of my makeup off. I really liked the formula of this and I would repurchase.

+ Gatineau Youth Activating Beauty Serum (0.17 FL OZ), $16.25.
This is a really nice serum. It just kind of gave me that luxe feel every time I used it. It wasn’t greasy at all and it soaked into my skin really nicely. It is really pricey for my skincare budget though, so I probably wouldn’t repurchase unless I could find a really great deal on it.

+ La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Moisturizer (0.1 FL OZ), $0.79.
I really like this brand and this moisturizer was a decent one. It did its job well without feeling too heavy. This was great to use before I put on my makeup every day. I would repurchase, although I think I have some more samples of this.

+ Annie’s Way Bubble Tea Mask – Mango, $2.25.
I hated this mask. It didn’t stay on my face at all. I ended up having to take it off early because it literally just slid down my face. It was crazy. I also didn’t even know it was scented as mango because I didn’t notice any kind of scent. I wouldn’t repurchase.

+ Lancer Lift & Plump Sheet Mask, $35.00.
This is a great sheet mask. It’s crazy pricey though! It has vegan stem cell complex in it. I seriously feel like I noticed a difference in my skin almost immediately. It just felt bouncier than usual. I would love to use this again, but I’m not personally willing to pay that price for it.

+ Bonvivant Hydro Nude Gel Firming, $?.
I can’t find this particular mask online, so I can’t link it :(. This one was okay, but I honestly don’t remember loving or hating it that much so I obviously couldn’t have cared for it that much. I wouldn’t repurchase partly because it didn’t stand out to me and partly because I can’t find it online.

+ 111Skin Rose Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Mask, $25.00.
This was a good mask, very nice to use and it clung to my face perfectly. I do feel my skin was slightly brighter after using this and I would love to repurchase but its $25.00 a go and I tend to use a mask every other day. So I’d go bankrupt.

+ Kate Somerville Wrinkle Warrior 2-in-1 Plumping Moisturizer + Serum (0.07 FL OZ), $3.91.
This is another high price item. For being a foil packet sample, it was great to use. It felt really nice on my skin and soaked in nicely. I liked not having to use two separate products during my skincare routine, and that I would be willing to pay for.

+ Etude House Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam (0.1 OZ), $0.29.
I love these baking powder cleansers. Basically, it’s a powder that you get wet and make into a paste-like substance and then you use that as a face wash. Biore has a really popular version. This was really gentle on my skin, but a bit hard to get out of the foil sample packaging. I would repurchase however, in the full size.

+ Bath and Body Works Coco Shea Honey Ultra Conditioning Bath & Shower Jelly (8 OZ), $16.50 x2.
I used two of these up this month. I purchased these during my most recent Bath & Body Works haul. These were really nice. Very soothing and hydrating and the best scent. Super light and relaxing. It made my shower feel like a mini spa treatment. I would repurchase.

+ Fortune Cookie Soap Shadow Man Whipped Soap, $8.99.
I got this in a previous Fortune Cookie Soap subscription box. It was interesting. It is a charcoal soap, so I didn’t love the scent. It looked almost metallic with a very off texture. I probably wouldn’t repurchase this particular product, but I love most of the products I try from Fortune Cookie Soap.

+ Bath and Body Works Mint Leaf & Bergamot Olive Oil Body Scrub (8 OZ), $16.50.
I don’t think they offer this product anymore because I can’t find it on their website. This was recommended to me by a Bath and Body Works employee while I was pregnant because it was supposed to be crazy hydrating. I can attest to that. It made my crazy dry pregnancy skin feel almost oily after using it. It was really soothing, it just wasn’t the exfoliation level I typically want from a body scrub.

+ Philosophy Fresh Winter Morning Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath (4 FL OZ), $8.00.
This scent was limited edition for the holidays, if I recall correctly. It smells really good and I love the formula of this product with any scent, so I was happy with it. I would repurchase in this and any other scent.

+ Deep Steep Sugar Scrub – Lavender Chamomile (8 OZ), $10.95.
This was a really nice scrub. It had the most relaxing scent that was perfect to use before bed. It was abrasive without being too harsh. It was a really perfect scrub for me. I would absolutely repurchase.

+ Fortune Cookie Soap In Your Glitter Dreams Body Scrub, $11.99.
I normally really do love this brand, but the two products from them I finished this month were duds. The scent of this was way too sweet for me, it was almost gag-inducing. And the scrub itself was just terrible. No exfoliation whatsoever. It was like rubbing soap on my skin. I would not repurchase.

+ LUSH Once Upon A Time Body Lotion (3.1 OZ), $9.95.
This particular scent was limited edition from the holiday collection, so it’s no longer available. This smelled incredible though. I love LUSH products and their body lotions are so hydrating and thick and creamy. I will 100% repurchase, even if it’s in a different scent.

+ Hempz Sensitive Skin Herbal Body Moisturizer (2.25 FL OZ), $3.70.
This is a great lotion for sensitive skin or people that have fragrance intolerances. It’s hydrating, but it is on the thinner side. I personally prefer thicker lotions, more like body creams but I enjoy using this lotion and I will repurchase at some point when I use my stash up a bit more.

+ Bath and Body Works Tutti Dolci White Mocha Kiss Shower Gel (8.4 FL OZ), $12.50.
Another discontinued Bath and Body Works product. My husband used most of this bottle, but the scent was nice. He says he enjoyed it, too! This lathered really nicely and left me feeling clean. What more could I ask for?

+ Up&Up Basic Cotton Squares 160 CT, $?.
I actually can’t find these on the Target website anymore, so I’m guessing they discontinued them? I could have sworn I just saw these in stores though. Either way, these are good. They’re affordable and they work. They do shed a bit, but not enough to really bother me, so I would repurchase if I can find them.

+ Beauty 360 Premium Cotton Rounds 80 CT, $3.79.
These cotton rounds are great. They’re quilted on one side, so they are really soft and don’t shed at all! These I would repurchase til the cows come home. They’re great and affordable.

+ Pond’s Luminous Clean Wet Cleansing Towelettes, $5.79.
I really like these wipes. They’re crazy thick and have a texture that really helps get your skin clean. The solution built into the wipes actually lathers up, which was nice. However, the sticker piece on the packaging wore out, so the remaining half pack went completely dry and I wasn’t able to use the entire pack. I’m not sure if I would give it another chance with these quite yet.

+ Lafes Soothe Deodorant Spray – Lavender & Aloe (8 OZ), $6.49.
I received this in a subscription box. I really wanted to like it, but it didn’t work at all. . .  the scent wore off almost immediately and I live in Arizona, where you sweat a lot. I need an antiperspirant. I wouldn’t repurchase this.

+ Preserve Triple Razor, $7.95.
I got this razor in a subscription box and I really didn’t expect to like it. I’m very picky about my razors. This surprised me though, it worked well and I love that it’s eco-friendly and came with an extra cartridge. I would actually repurchase this.

+ Skintimate Skin Therapy Moisturizing Shave Cream – Dry Skin (10 OZ), $9.45.
This is one of my favorite shave creams ever. It’s really great for dry skin and it I love the foam aspect of it. It works well and the scent isn’t bad either. I have enough of these cans for an army, so I can’t really repurchase this because I would have no where to put any more cans, but you’ll be seeing a lot more of these in future empty posts!

+ Hello Fluoride Free Whitening Toothpaste – Natural Sweet Mint (4.2 OZ), $4.49.
I received this for free through the Hello product testing program. I tried this and my husband tried it, and neither one of us really cared for it. I wasn’t a fan of the texture, it was a bit too dry for me. And my husband said the mint didn’t taste like his normal minty toothpaste, so we probably won’t repurchase.

+ Colgate Optic White Toothpaste – Fresh Cool Mint (3.5 OZ), $3.96.
This is one of my favorite toothpastes. I don’t mind the texture of it, I like the flavor of it. I don’t feel like it really whitens my teeth, but it’s one of the best that I’ve tried. I have a few extra tubes of this, and I will repurchase in the future.

+ Colgate Total Toothpaste – Clean Mint (0.75 OZ), $1.00.
This is the toothpaste that we took with us to the hospital. It was okay. I prefer the Optic White formula to the Total formula, but I’ll use this one. I just don’t think it’s anything special.

+ Maybelline Dream Cushion Liquid Foundation in 20 Classic Ivory, $9.69.
I really liked this foundation and I tend to go for fuller coverage foundation. This is buildable coverage though, so I was able to make it work. I feel like it was a good color match on me. The only issue I have is that compared to regular foundation packaging, you get such a small amount of foundation in this at a premium price. I would probably repurchase, but I don’t like the size issue.

+ Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen + Ballpoint in 01 Blackest Black, $6.30.
The tip of this liner is a bit off to me. It really does have a ballpoint. I personally found it a bit more difficult to use because of this, but it did provide me with a nice opaque black liner, and I loved the formula so I would repurchase.

+ Tarte Maneater Mascara (0.15 FL OZ), $11.50.
This was a really great mascara. It worked really well, I loved the brush and it made my lashes look super black and long. I would totally repurchase this in the full size. I could see this having the potential to be a new holy grail.

+ It Cosmetics Hello Lashes 5-in-1 Clinically Proven Mascara (0.16 FL OZ), $10.00.
I’ve used a couple of travel sizes of this mascara and a full size and I love it. The wand is really weird looking, but the mascara itself is amazing and I really think it helped with the length of my lashes. I would 100% repurchase.

+ Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara in 10 Noir (0.17 OZ), $13.81.
This was another really great mascara. This plumped up my lashes and really did make them look more voluminous which is kind of difficult to do behind glasses. But, I got a ton of questions about what mascara I was using while wearing this, so I’d repurchase!

I used up $419.65 worth of products this month!
I’ve used up $895.74 worth of products this year!
