DITL: Monroe’s 2nd Birthday! | Party Ideas for 2 Year Olds

Hey everyone! Today I’ll be sharing a little photo Day In The Life of Monroe’s 2nd Birthday! Normally we plan an outing for their birthday that only my husband, myself and our kids go on and then family is invited for cake and presents, but for their 2nd birthdays, we get a bounce house and family & close friends are invited for the whole day. We prefer to keep birthday celebrations small to really enjoy the day without being stressed.

The night before her birthday, my husband helped me set up all Monroe’s presents. . .

. . . and some small decorations. The theme we picked this year was Unicorn. I found a ton of great Unicorn party supplies at Party City!

We got the table all set up to. All of the products shown here were purchased at Party City. They had some of the cutest Unicorn stuff ever!

Now it’s Party Time! I think Monroe looked cute as hell in her birthday outfit. The headband and tutu came from a set, also from Party City.

The first thing she did, as with every birthday girl, was to check out her presents. We wrapped everything but her biggest present, a Vanity Set w Stool that I picked up from Sam’s Club. It’s actually reduced now to $22.51. It was really easy to put together and it’s quickly becoming one of her favorites.

We ordered a Disney Princess Castle Bounce House for the day. The rental for these are actually pretty reasonable. It cost us about $140.00 for a 24 hour rental, and these things hold a ton of people!

We spend a little time bouncing, but the sun got really hot really fast. We decided to take a break after a while and open some presents!

Monroe really stepped up her game this year when it came to opening presents. She tore that paper off like it was on fire!

Gibson used this time for a photo opp. I love this balloon frame that I picked up, it made for some really cute pictures!

Since Monroe likes helping me cook dinner so much, I got this adorable chef set. It has some other pieces that Gibson took off with, but the little apron and chefs hat are seriously too cute for words.

My mom got Monroe a Fire HD 8 Kids Edition (in pink) because she is constantly trying to steal Gibson’s. He has one in blue, which works out nicely because eventually Ramsey will get the yellow one that they have. These are great for kids and they come with a 1-year worry-free guarantee.

and I may have stolen a little bit of time for a photo opp too. But, how cute is Ramsey in this Unicorn hat?

Next, it was time for an early dinner. We normally get the same requested meal for birthdays: pizza. It’s definitely a favorite of my kids!

And one more photo opp for good measure!

Then it was time for cake! I got this cake at Fry’s, actually. The candle is available in any number and you can find it here. It is seriously covered in glitter though, so the cupcake that the candle is sitting in was not eaten.

The last part of the evening was some more bouncy time! By this point, it had cooled down considerably and the kids had a blast!

But all good things must come to an end. Jagger joined Kylor for a little post-bounce nap.

All in all, it was a great day! I loved the Unicorn theme a lot more than I thought that I would. Monroe had a great day, as did everyone else. It wasn’t a crazy expensive day, but it was definitely a memorable one with some huge laughs along the way. I’m really happy with how everything turned out.

What themes do you like for a 2 year olds party? What do you for the activities at kids parties?
