Anyone with kids will tell you that things that makeup and hair kind of go by the wayside. You have to make time to do those kinds of things. I’m very big into self care, so I always make time for it, but I’m a very lazy hair person. I prefer to devote the time to my makeup, so for my “everyday” hair, I tend to lean towards a messy, wavy look that takes me less than five minutes to do – today I’m going to walk you through my routine!
These are the products I’m currently using. They do change from time to time – I obviously test out lots of different products, but my current lineup is the HASK Charcoal Purifying Dry Shampoo ($7.99), Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray ($27), Not Your Mothers Plump For Joy Thickening Hair Lifter ($5.99), Fekkai Brilliant Gloss Diamond Shimmer Spray ($18), and Redken Triple Take 32 Extreme High-Hold Hairspray ($22).
This is how my hair starts. I just typically brush it through and get any tangles out. I do use a paddle brush because my hair is on the thicker side and paddle brushes work the best for me. I use dry shampoo first, on the roots of my hair. I use dry shampoo everyday, just because my hair is so dark and it appears greasy, no matter how often I wash it.
Next, I use my salt spray. I do this by sections – spray and scrunch to get a nice amount of waves throughout. Then, I use my root lifter on my roots and use a teasing comb to disperse the product and get some volume to my hair.
Then I do an light, but even coat of hairspray.
And then I use my shimmer spray to add a bit of shine to my hair.
And that’s literally it. I just fluff it up a bit and, if I have a flyaway issue – postpartum hairloss is a bitch when it comes to baby hairs, I use a flyaway tamer.
