I can’t believe another month has passed! This year is seriously going by so quickly, but I’m so excited about things to come in 2019! I am trucking on through this year using up (honestly) a ridiculous amount of products. I am taking part in #sampleseptember this year, so I’m leaving all of foil packets out of this post. I’ll be doing a separate post in October about my progress with that challenge. I’m so excited though! I used up a ton of great products this month!
Like always, we start with some haircare. I got this Phyto PhytoCitrus Color Protect Radiance Shampoo ($24) on clearance at Ulta. This shampoo is good, but the packaging sucks. It’s a tin/metal bottle and you can’t squeeze product out so I found myself getting really frustrated trying to use this. I wouldn’t repurchase based on packaging/price. I also used up a Pantene Classic Clean Conditioner ($7.37) and a Pantene Smooth & Sleek Conditioner ($7.37). These were good – classic. I have several move in my stash.
I used up several travel sizes too – a Schwarzkopf Gliss Hair Repair Ultimate Repair Shampoo ($0.81 estimated value), an R+Co Cactus Texturizing Shampoo ($4.16 estimated value), a Briogeo Rosarco Blow Dry Perfection & Heat Protectant Creme ($4.50 estimated value), a Redken No Blow Dry NBD Just Right Cream ($4.80 estimated value), and an Oribe Matte Waves Texture Lotion ($6.17 estimated value). I really liked all of these, but my favorites were the Redken and the Oribe. They gave me gorgeous semi-waves and made it so much easier to style my hair after using them!
I used up a few more hair styling products – one of my all-time favorites (I think I talk about this almost every month), the Aussie Total Miracle 7-in-1 Dry Shampoo ($3.47). This is actually my last bottle of this dry shampoo, so I am excited to be able to try out some new ones, but kind of bummed – I really did like this one!
I also used up the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray ($27). I loved this! One of my top recommendations. I love this whole brand and this product in particular makes for some gorgeous waves! And then we have the Bed Head Hard Head Hard Hold Hairspray ($20). Kylor actually used this particular can up, but I have used a couple of these in the past. I really like this hairspray, it’s really great for holding on humid days – Kylor really enjoyed it too!
I killed the skincare game this month! I used up some full size products: the St Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub ($2.77), ELF Daily Face Cleanser ($4.00), the Botanics Micellar 3 In 1 Cleansing Solution ($6.99), and the Bliss Makeup Melt Dry/Wet Gentle Jelly Cleanser with Rose Flowers ($12). The St Ives is good, I use it pretty regularly. The ELF cleanser really surprised me. It was very hydrating, and did a good job of cleansing. The Bliss jelly cleanser was incredible. A new favorite of mine – it removed my makeup, hydrated and made my skin smoother and left me feeling fresh. I was not a fan of the Botanics Micellar Cleansing Solution – it didn’t remove much of my makeup and I really had to scrub, which is definitely not something you want to do on your eyes.
Next, I used up some travel size skincare: the First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser ($5 estimated value), SkinFix Foaming Clay Cleanser ($6.47 estimated value), the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream ($44.50 estimated value), the Youth To The People Kale + Green Tea Spinach Vitamins Age Prevention Cleanser ($2.25 estimated value). I liked all of these, but especially the Elemis (yozaw at the price though! Damn!) and the Youth To The People products. The SkinFix was good, but it just doesn’t do a whole lot for me.
And then I used up a couple packs of wipes, the Simple Water Boost Hydrating Cleansing Wipes ($6.89), which are great. I have several more packs of these and I will happily use them! And then I used up a 7-pack of the Simple Kind To Skin Cleansing Wipes ($2.99), which are also great! Both of these are really great for removing makeup and just refreshing your skin.
I used up a decent amount of masks this month. I won’t be talking too much about them, because I do mini reviews on each mask that I use on my Instagram (@mommymessmer), so if you’re interested in my thoughts or my mask selfies, check them out there! But I will give ya’ll a list + pricing for them!
Skin Republic Bubble Purifying + Charcoal Face Mask Sheet ($7.99)
NOHJ Refreshing Botanical Cotton Sheet Mask ($2.99)
SkinFood Jellyfish Marine Food Gel Mask ($5)
Missha Aloe Airy Fit Sheet Mask ($2)
Etude House Hyaluronic Acid Skin Moisturizing Mask ($1.99)
Bano Baby Face Injection Mask ($4.50)
G9 Skin Strawberry Milk Bomb Mask ($3.50)
The Face Shop Kelp Face Mask ($2.89)
Glamglow Bubblesheet Oxygenating Deep Cleanse Mask ($9)
Dr Brandt Magnetight Age-Defier Skin Recharging Magnet Mask ($24)
Filorga Meso-Mask Smoothing Radiance Mask ($17.45 estimated value)
Eve Lom Rescue Mask ($14.41 estimated value)
I used up some makeup this month – first up is the Makeup Revolution Sport Fix Extra Hold Makeup Fixing Spray ($8). This is an amazing setting spray. This helped my makeup stay all day in the AZ heat. It helped keep everything together and even working outside for a couple hours didn’t mess my makeup up! I definitely recommend this for anyone in hot areas or that do a lot of physical activity.
I also used up the Milani Brow Shaping Clear Gel ($4.94). This was really nice and held my brows in place without being too thick or sticky. I can’t find it online anymore, so I’m assuming that it’s being discontinued. Have you heard anything? I also used a little baby sized Too Faced Hangover RX 3-in-1 Replenishing Primer & Setting Spray ($0.48 estimated value). This was okay, but it only lasted a couple of days. I do wish I had gotten a little bit more use out of it to really form an opinion. And lastly for makeup, I used up a Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express Waterproof Mascara in Black Drama ($6.99). This mascara was actually dried up, but it’s a really nice mascara. My favorite drugstore is pretty much anything by Covergirl, but this was a nice contender.
Between the two of us, Kylor and I used up several body washes this month! We used up a Plaine Products Rosemary/Mint/Vanilla Body Wash ($4.68 estimated value). This was okay, but the packaging is that tin/metal bottle that I can’t stand. The full size does come with an optional pump though, which is nice! I also used up the Nivea Foaming Silk Mousse Body Wash ($5.79). This was nice, but the foaming factor makes it more difficult to tell quite how much body wash you’re getting, so I feel like I go through way more body wash than I normally do.
I also used up a Fortune Cookie Soap Suit Up! Body Wash ($7.99). This was a really nice body wash. It smelled great and had a superb lather! It does look like it’s currently unavailable and since it was limited edition, I’m assuming it won’t be brought back. :(. And lastly, I used up a Bath & Body Works Cool Coconut Surf Shower Gel ($12.50). It looks like this scent is no longer available, but it was a great scent for summer! I am a huge coconut scented-product lover though. Anything coconut scented I neeeed!
And then we used up a couple of random body products: a PINK Charcoal Magic Purifying Body Scrub ($18.50) and a Spongelle Pedi-Buffer with Built-In Cleanser in Beach Grass ($16). Both of these were really good, but it looks like the PINK scrub is no longer available. It was a really nice scrub, though. The Spongelle is awesome for part of my pedicure. I definitely recommend.
And finally, we have some misc products: an 8 pack of Gillette Venus Cartridges ($18.98), a Gillette Satin Care Sensitive Skin Shave Gel ($2.99), and a pack of Kroger 80CT Cotton Rounds ($1.89). These are all basic products, but they’re all good. I do personally prefer mens razors over womens razors, but the Venus cartridges are pretty decent.
I’ve used up $408.96 worth of products this month!
I’ve used up $3405.00 worth of products so far this year!
