When you are pregnant there is a good chance that you are going to feel nervous about giving birth. Unfortunately, as much as you try to paint it in a positive light, giving birth to your baby is hard work. However, the good news for those mum’s to be is that you can do things to make things that little bit easier for you.
Whilst you can’t wave a magic wand and make all the pain go away, let’s take a look at our top tips to help you to have a better birth.
Make sure you feel relaxed with who is with you
The good thing about being able to choose your gynaecologist is that you can make sure that they are someone who you feel entirely comfortable with. This could be a female gynaecologist or perhaps just one that makes you feel at ease. Having someone there who makes you feel somewhat relaxed is definitely a step in the right direction for you to have a positive labor.
Prepare for what you want to try
There is absolutely no point deciding halfway through labor that there is something that you want to try. You have 9 whole months to not only research about the options that are open to you, but to also prepare for what you want to do too. Read the books, search for things online and talk to friends, the more information that you can gather about your options before the birth, then the better.
Take a yoga class
Making sure that your body is supple and flexible is one way to try and make labor that little bit easier for you. Not only does yoga help your muscles to stretch, but it also helps you to increase your stamina too. Both things that you are going to need during labor. As well as this, yoga ensures that you practice working on how to focus your mind, and your mind is definitely what will get you through the throes of labor.
Don’t listen to the negativity
Giving birth and being a parent is incredibly personal and there is a good chance that everyone will have an opinion on what you should be doing, or what they think is right. The thing to remember is that this is just their view. Trust your own instincts, go with your own flow and if someone has a negative opinion on what you want to do, then ignore them. It is your birth plan. Not theirs.
It is hard to get around during the later stages of pregnancy, which means that exercise could be the last thing on your mind. The thing about pregnancy, and labor, is that exercise, or at the very least, keeping moving, is important. Staying fit and healthy is important to help you to give birth and will make you feel a whole lot better too.
Whilst giving birth isn’t easy, you will be pleased to know that there are things that you can do to try and make it that little bit easier. The most important thing to do is to relax, to focus on what you need to do and remember that at the end of it all, you will be able to welcome your beautiful little baby.
